Phil Gregory, a boutique winemaker, represents a new generation of vintners in the Guadalupe Valley wine region of Baja California producing exploratory wines harmonious with the tastes of an emerging market.

With just over eight years as a vintner, Gregory is releasing his Vena Cava 2011 production offering a new world blends of uncommon distinction. As a natural and forward-thinking winemaker, Gregory believes that wine has a story to tell. He treats his vines gently producing graceful wines with the best possible grape. Going as organic as he can, he uses natural methods rather than chemical treatments. Gregory creates reds of character blending the bright fruity flavors New World in style with the elegance of Old World wines. Vena Cava, named to symbolize the life blood of the Valley is a wine of place that captures the unique terroir of the Guadalupe wine country. All the wines cultivated in the vineyard, as well as the organic vegetable and estate- grown lavender, are a part of the self-contained ethos of La Villa del Valle, which Gregory presides over with his wife, Eileen.

As one of the premiere lodging retreats in Guadalupe Valley. On the six guest-room property also sits one of the region’s top restaurants, Diego Hernández-Baquedano’s Corazón de Tierra.
